On August 15, the Yibin Junlian Tunnel, the last tunnel of the Sichuan-Yunnan section of the Chongqing-Kunming High Speed Railway, was successfully completed, marking the full completion of all 28 tunnels along this section and the start of a new phase in project construction.

The Chongqing-Kunming High Speed Railway is an important part of the Beijing-Kunming corridor of China’s “eight vertical and eight horizontal” high speed railway network. The line starts from Chongqingxi Railway Station, passes through Chongqing city, Sichuan province, Guizhou province, and Yunnan province, and connects to Kunmingnan Railway Station. It has a total length of about 700 kilometers, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and is expected to be completed and open to traffic in 2026. By then, the travel time between Chongqing and Kunming will be significantly reduced, and the connectivity between the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the central Yunnan region will be further strengthened.
